Valine is one of the three major branched-chain amino acids. It belongs to the glycogenic amino acid and is mainly metabolized by the glucose pathway after oxidative dehydrogenation. It works together with leucine (ketogenic amino acid) and isoleucine (sugar and ketogenic amino acid), and interacts with the tricarboxylic acid cycle to realize the transformation of the three major nutrients (protein, sugar, fat) in the body. It has physiological functions such as oxidative energy supply, promotion of protein synthesis, inhibition of protein degradation, and promotion of gluconeogenesis, and plays an important role in biological applications.

Application                                                                                            

1. Amino acid drugs
    Amino acid drugs. L-valine is one of the three branched-chain amino acids and is an essential amino acid. It can be used together with other essential amino acids to prepare amino acid infusion and comprehensive amino acid preparations. It can treat liver failure and central nervous system dysfunction.
2. Feed additives
---Adding L-valine to the diet of lactating livestock can increase the amount of lactation. At higher lysine levels, valine will be the first limiting amino acid.
---Improve the immune function of animals. Valine can promote the transformation of animal skeletal cells into mature T cells. When animals lack valine, the ability to synthesize specific antibodies decreases and the antibody response to the virus decreases.
--- Affect the endocrine level of animals. Studies have shown that supplementation of valine in the diets of lactating sows and lactating rats increases plasma prolactin and growth hormone concentrations.
3. Nutritional supplements
    It can be used as a food additive, and valine (1g/kg) is added to rice cakes. The product has a sesame fragrance, and it can also improve the flavor when used in bread.
